ATA is the exclusive Global Salesforce for SE Labs

SE Labs is one of very few organizations in the world that penetration test cybersecurity products. Gartner is one of the most similar organizations in the world. Gartner's testing focus is mainly on general product testing, while SE Labs specializes on testing for specific client needs in their custom technology stack. 

SE Labs launched its cyber security testing services in 2015.

Prior to that, the company’s founder Simon Edwards started and ran Dennis Technology Labs (DTL), a security testing organization within Dennis Publishing, the UK’s largest independent magazine publishing company at the time.

DTL operated between 2007 and 2015, mainly testing anti-virus (anti-malware) products for businesses and consumers. In that time Simon was also a founder member and Chairman of the Board of the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO).

Testing anti-malware and other security products as a technical journalist since 1995, Simon published results for the first ‘real-world’ anti-malware test, which involved full end-to-end threat testing using internet-connected endpoints, inclusion of web-based exploits and full execution of malware.

Noting that the future of cyber security testing would involve advanced targeted attacks, rather than relatively simple computer viruses, Simon started the specialist independent security testing business SE Labs Ltd in 2015.

There is much debate over what the ‘SE’ in SE Labs stands for. Simon has yet to hear a correct guess.
